In its 100+ years history, Hyg has always been associated with research either through combating a growing epidemic in Europe or in recent years post war on environmental safety and policy. The Verein as a non-profit organization is interested in the upcoming trends in environmental safety. It is also actively involved in progressing the field along with collaborators and stakeholders from academia and other non-profit institutions. The Hygiene-Institut is now primarily working in the field of chemical, biological and physical environmental analytics.

Opening up to research means we are a “Small and medium-sized enterprise” (SME) professionally qualified to

• subcontract our wide range of accredited environmental analytics and auditing we offer as routine to research clients needing professionally experienced SMEs to be in both national and international research consortiums. We are working in accordance with national and global norms and standards. We also have the technical expertise to adapt to specific requirements from researchers.
• being lead SME in funding tenders that can actualise our plan for the future to be involved in analytical and bioanalytical test developments for future German and EU environmental safety norms and compliance adjustments.
• get involved in new biological and analytical schematic ring tests within a research consortium, and working towards faster and more efficient techniques for future compliance needs.
